Full product details

Add a rare and ornamental showpiece to your citrus collection with the Variegated Minneola Tangelo Tree. This grafted cultivar is prized for its striking green-and-cream variegated foliage, which makes it a standout in any landscape, patio, or container — even before it fruits. Crisp white spring blooms pop beautifully against the patterned leaves.

The Variegated Minneola is a cross between the Duncan grapefruit and the Dancy tangerine, producing large, bell-shaped "Honeybell" fruit that ripens to a rich orange. The flesh is juicy and sugary-sweet with a mild, refreshing tartness — nearly seedless and easy to peel, ideal for fresh eating right off the tree.

Our trees are healthy, nursery-grown, and grafted for faster fruiting and true-to-type results. We ship nationwide, securely packaged to arrive ready to thrive in warm climates or as a container specimen anywhere.

Special considerations

Partially self-pollinating — one tree will set fruit, but yields improve with a nearby pollinizer (Temple, Sunburst, Fallglo, Dancy, or Clementine). Variegated foliage means slightly slower growth and lower vigor than standard Minneola — this is normal. Fruit ripens late fall through winter. Protect from frost; sensitive to overwatering.

Growing and Care Instructions

- Sunlight: Full sun, at least 8 hours daily for best foliage color and fruit production.
- Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, allowing the top 1–2 inches to dry between watering. Citrus dislike "wet feet" — avoid standing water.
- Soil: Well-draining sandy or loamy soil, slightly acidic to neutral pH (5.5–7.0). Enrich with compost or organic matter.
- Temperature / Hardiness: Hardy to USDA Zones 9–11. Protect from frost and cold snaps. Variegated citrus are slightly less cold-tolerant than standard.
- Fertilization: Apply a balanced, slow-release citrus fertilizer 3×/year (late winter, spring, and fall). Follow label rates.
- Pruning: Prune lightly in late winter/early spring to shape, remove dead branches, and improve airflow.
- Mulching: Apply 2–3 inches of mulch around the base, kept a few inches off the trunk, to retain moisture.
- Container Growing: Excellent for pots and patios; ensure good drainage and repot as the tree grows.
- Pests / Diseases: Monitor for aphids, scale, spider mites, whiteflies, and citrus rust mite. Treat with neem oil, horticultural oil, or insecticidal soap as needed.
